Summary:

Marrying a vampire definatly doesn't fit in to Jessica Packwood's senior-year "get a life" plan. But then a bizarre (and incredibly hot) new exchange student named Lucius Vladescu shows up, claiming that Jessica is a Romanian vampire princess by birth and he's her long-lost fiance. Armed with newfound confidence and a copy of Growing Up Undead: A Teen Vampire's Guide to Dating, Health and Emotions, Jessica makes a dramatic transition from average American teenager to glam European vampire princess. But Jessica has never been kissed - how can she possibly commit herself to a long-term relationship? Or an eternal relationship, for that matter?

My Thoughts:

Oh my God. This book was fantastic. In the beginning, it seemed like the kind of story some amateur would write on Quizilla.com but as the story unfolded, it wasn't anything like that. One thing that I didnt like is that Lucius and Jess are such teenagers!! I know theyre teenagers but, what the hell. Jess kept pushing Lucius away and wanting to go out with Jake and to me, Lucius didn't really stop her. Then Jess turns around and wants Lucius but then finds out that he doesn't want her and has a new girlfriend who he seems to love doing intimate things with. Which pissed both Jess and me off.
One very intriquing aspect of the novel was the ending. The last line, in fact.
" The stake that had fallen to the carpet was gone. Lucius never told me what became of it. Whether he's tossed the reminder of his most violent deed and our darkest moment into the fire, which had been fed during the night, or hid the stake away somewhere in the castle, in case he should ever choose to need it again. And I never asked."

That was a very powerful last paragraph. Because with all they've been through, you would think that Lucius and Jess would fall madly in love and stay together forever, but the last paragraph made me think that all was not well in Paradise. And that something darker may happen further into their relationship. It was an interesting twist that made you think. I definatly would not want to be in a relationship (like theirs) where you love someone but arn't sure whether or not they'd hurt you. Just thinking about it is Hell on my nerves.

So... go to your local bookstore or order online just as long as you don't make this book full of forgotten pages.

Talk to ya later...
Amy
