Book #31: Night Game

Novel Title: Night Game

Author: Christine Feehan

ISBN: 0-515-73976-9

Pages: 469

Price: US - $9.99 CAN- $13.50

Summary:

Gator Fontenot of the Special Forces paranormal squad can't refuse an urgent request to save the elusive Iris "Flame" Johnson, a victim of the same horrific experiments that warped Gator. Now unleashed, she's a red-haired weapon of unimaginable destructive powers, a walking time bomb bent on revenge in the sultry bayous of New Orleans and hunted by a shadowy assassin. It's Gator's job to reel Flame in. But can two people haunted by violent betrayals trust the passion that soon ignites them? Or is one of them just playing another seductive and deadly night game?

My Thoughts:

I wasn't really expecting much for this book. I was kind of excited to get it because it was written by Christine Feehan who is absolutely amazing. Although I love her, I wasn't in love with this book. It could have been that I thought that I was missing an entire plot line. Is this book in a series? No idea.
I think the characters in this novel were a little over dramatic. Flame definatly was a little dramatic in trying to get revenge for getting her powers. Hello? At least your not dead... At least be a little grateful.
And I thought Gator would be more of a tortured soul. Instead he was just a regular guy who had some "shadows". Whatever that means.
The one character that I did love was Nonny. She was the cutest little grandmother and so innocent. :-D
Other than that though, the romance scenes were nothing special. The action scenes were confusing and the overall plot wasn't the best. *shrugs* oh well.
This book wasn't my favorite but it very well could be yours.

Book #30: Twice as Hot

Novel Title: Twice As Hot

Author: Gena Showalter

ISBN: 978-0-373-77437-1

Price: US $7.99 CAN $9.99

Pages: 424

Summary:

Belle Jamison is finally starting to feel like a normal girl again. Her job as a paranormal investigator is going well, she's learned to control her supernatural abilities (mostly) and she's just gotten engaged to Rome Masters, the ultra-sexy operative who once tried to neutralize her!
But planning a wedding is never easy, especially when the bride keeps accidentally torching her dress, the groom returns from a dangerous mission with selective memory loss and the man responsible now wants Belle for himself. With Rome's ex determined to win him back and a new band of supervillians on the horizon, it will take all Belle's powers - plus a little help from her trust empath sidekick - to save the day, salvage the wedding and prove that true love really does conquer all.

My Thoughts:

This book was a roller coaster of emotions. Like the book before this one, it made me bust up laughing because of Belle's sense of humor. She's just so freakin' funny! But you got to have the good with the bad and there was definitely lots of bad. I must have teared up, like, a million times.
The back of the book is wrong BTW. Rome did not suffer from minor memory loss, he suffered from the greatest memory loss ever (forgetting who Belle was). And it didn't help that Lexis was being a total bitch the whole time.
Luckily, everything turns out to be alright. Tanner finds a lady love and so does Sherridon, Belle's best friend. Lexis is still undetermined.
The wedding was awesome but I would have liked to see more detail. The ending was kind of lame but this book isn't a Pulitzer so you kinda have to deal with it. :-)

Book #29: Playing With Fire

Novel Title: Playing With Fire

Author: Gena Showalter

ISBN: 978-0-373-77129-5

Price: US $6.99 CAN $8.50

Pages: 374

First Sentence:
(On Belle's Resume)
Objective: To find an exciting, exhilarating career with the opportunity for advancement and a low rate of employee dismissals.

Summary:

Earth, Wind & Fire aren't just a band anymore...
Used to be my greatest achievement was holding a job more than three days. Now suddenly I can shoot fireballs, chill your drink or blow-dry your hair at fifty paces with a blink of my eye!
It all started when this crazy scientist dropped something in my Grande Mocha Latte. Of course I got wicked sick. Next morning I'm waking up with this total hottie bending over me. He tells me 1) his name's Rome Masters, 2) he's a government agent and 3) I can control the four elements with a thought.
He seems even less pleased by my (apparently irreversible) transformation than I am...Because now he'll have to kill me.

My Thoughts:

This book is hilarious! I was literally laughing my ass off and that's not good 'cause I'm pretty fond of my ass. The main character, Belle, has this outlook on life that is a typical woman in the 21st century. She has a FABULOUS sense of humor.
Rome, of course, is delicious. And he has a little superpower of his own. Sunny, his little daughter, is tooooooo cute! Lexis, his ex, is alright but i don't really like her that much. *shrugs* oh well.
Gena Showalter was a genius when she came up with Belle and her whole situation. Belle seems to be like a real person you would be like or someone you would know. Just a crazy girl. But she is AWESOME!
My 3rd favorite character is Tanner because he is just so funny. He's this random guy that inadvertently helps Belle escape from Pretty Boy (aka Vincent Jones). He is a typical teenage guy. Horny as hell but so sensitive <-- hint!. And he makes wicked booby sandwiches *wink*
This book was fantastic! I was expecting more hanky panky with Rome and Belle but the whole story builds up their relationship and their love that it was just totally worth it.

Book # 28: Lyon

Novel Title: Lyon

Author: Elizabeth Amber

ISBN: 978-0-7582-2041-7

Price: US $12.95 CAN $15.45

Pages: 296

First Sentence:

Lord Lyon Satyr prowled the twilight streets of Paris, hunting.

Summary:

He is on the prowl...For his most luscious prize...
The youngest of the Satyr brothers, Lyon enjoys working in the family's Tuscan vineyards, caring for his menagerie of animals and bedding beautiful women. But he knows he must fulfill his destiny of taking the last daughter of King Feydon as his bride. And so he travel to Paris to wed the infamous Juliet Rabelais...
A celebrated courtesan noted for both her culinary - and carnal - talents, Juliet is a voluptuous beauty with a body meant to tease. And with a full moon only days away, Lyon is quickly aroused. But after a night of intimacy, Lyon wonders if Juliet is truly a mistress of sensual pleasure or whether his sexual mastery will be her undoing...

My Thoughts:

This book was a little confusing even though I enjoyed it.
Lyon goes to Paris to find his bride and he thinks he finds her. He lays down with a Nereid and does the horizontal tango thinking its his soon to be wifey. In comes Juliet. She's walking down the street and comes across Ms. Nereid and Lyon doing the nasty and she feels like she's having sex with Lyon. Weeeiiiiirrd.
Apparently Ms. Juliet works in a brothel but she doesn't sell her body - Noooooo... she sells food. And because she's a little faerie, she uses food to trick men into thinking they had sex with her. You go girl! Her boss is totally sketchy and wants to sleep with her but wants to keep her innocence in tact. And get this, if he thinks she's been screwing around he 'checks' to make sure she's still a virgin. Gross.
So Juliet does her little food lurvin with Lyon and gives him a butt load of memories thinking that he actually did and done her. Well, once a month these Satyr boys have to have sex and if they don't then they die. So Ms. Nereid comes to him, has sex with him, and gets prego...
So when Juliet finds out, she's like ' oh its cool.. you're my sister'.
uhhhh.. WHAT!?
Apparently back in the day, someone murdered her sister but this little nymph thing took her body. so the nymph lady lied to Juliet and had Lyon's baby. But she doesn't want the baby, she wants Lyon's protection which he can only give if he's married to her. but he HAS to marry Juliet.
sooooo confusing but they work it all out in the end...
Oh and Juliet's boss? That's her brother...

Book # 27: Raine

Novel Title: Raine

Author: Elizabeth Amber

ISBN: 978-0-7582-2040-0

Pages: 313

Price: US $12.95 CAN $15.45

First Sentence:

Jordan shifted on the wooden chair upon which she's been carefully posed, causing the drape over it to slip sideways and slither into a heap on the floor.

Summary:

As a lover, his skills are legendary... But in matters of the heart he has much to learn...
The middle brother, Raine, is both sensual and stoic. Scarred by once taking a wife who could not accept his carnal needs, he wants no part in another marriage. But duty commands that he fulfill his promise to wed King Feydon's second daughter, Jordan...
The loyal satyr begins a search that leads him from Tuscany to romantic Venice, where his beautiful bride awaits, unaware of what passionate delights fate has planned for her. Raine is careful not to reveal his powerful satyr sexuality, for fear of driving yet another woman away. But unbeknownst to him, Jordan is no ordinary woman and was born with an insatiable appetite for love. And as Raine's heart begins to melt for her, how long will he be able to hide his true nature when Jordan seems to want him so fiercely?

My Thoughts:

This book surprised me soooo much! I was expecting a typical love story with Raine and Jordan considering his past with his wife but noooo.
Apparently every year on her birthday, Jordan is taken by some doctor to be analyzed till midnight. He provides meetings to show the people of the medical world Jordan's interesting anomaly. I can't tell you what it is but its something you never would have guessed!!
I was kind of disappointed that during the whole book, there was only a little interaction with Raine's ex wife. She only got a couple of lines and that was the end of her! Poo!
The one thing that annoys me about Elizabeth Amber are her sub plots. The subplot in this novel involved a cardinal who was in LUUUURRRVVE with Raine. And Raine being Raine is like 'Dude, get the !@#$ away from me. I'm into chicks.' Cardinal man doesnt get the clue and wants Raine soooo bad he practically steals Jordan.
A wonderful romance scene between Jordan and Raine is when Jordan ties him up. Raine does not like to be tied up because that relinquishes his control. Bad Jordan!
I love how even though Raine can be a complete bonehead, he just loves Jordan to death and will do anything for her and accepts her anomaly with no questions asked. Sweet guy...
This one's a keeper, J!

Book # 26: Nicholas

Novel Title: Nicholas

Author: Elizabeth Amber

ISBN: 978-0-7582-2039-4

Price: US $12.95 CAN $16.50

Pages: 319

First Sentence:

Lord Nicholas Satyr lifted the dagger from the desk before him, anxious to have the task ahead complete.

Summary:

He had sworn to take a proper wife. He hadn't bargained on meeting his match...
Nicholas looks very much like what he is - the handsome, successful heir to a vineyard in Tuscany. But Nicholas is much more, for he is one of the last in an ancient line of satyr men. And the dying king of ElseWorld wants him not only to marry, but to wed one of the king's own daughters - a half-human, half-faerie woman unaware of her heritage. Nicholas won't shirk his duty to produce heirs to guard his race's legacies, but he never plans to make his bride his only lover. A satyr's sexual hunger and sensual skills are legendary. One woman will never satisfy him.
Or so Nicholas believes until he meets Jane. As spirited as she is fey, as beautiful as she is innocent, she is nevertheless determined to make her new husband hers alone - and she's eager for him to teach her every deliciously carnal secret he knows...

My Thoughts:
Okay, so this book was the first in a series that I'm uploading right after this. This book wasn't what i was expecting at all. It's a historical fantasy romance which I'm not really into. Jane is so cute! She is very innocent but once she finds out that her dear hubby might be cheating she pulls out all the stops and confronts him to teach him how to be his mistress while being his wife at the same time. Jane definitely didn't know what she was getting herself into. Dear Nicky taught her some naughty things but in my opinion they were a little tame.
I didn't like the side plot between Jane's aunt and her uncle. They had a little incestuous relationship but that didn't bother me. Her aunt was just so bitchy and evil. The aunt and her friends even had the audacity to have sex with a young man and each other and then kill him. That's just mean.
One thing I really enjoyed about this book was Jane when she was pregnant. Nicholas hadn't told her exactly how long her pregnancy would last (about a month) so she was super surprised when she started giving birth 8 months early. So funny.
My favorite sexual part of the book was towards the end when Nicholas and his brothers, Raine and Lyon, have to sleep with Jane in order to protect her from things coming out of ElseWorld. After reading the books I'm still confused about why they don't want little critters coming out but, that's just me. Anyways, Raine and Lyon have to sleep with her which she finds really weird but she enjoys it. Go Jane!
All in all, it wasn't a bad book, but it wasn't one of my favorite either.
On the back of the book it said "WARNING this is a REALLY HOT book"... Sorry, Elizabeth it's not THAT hot...

Book # 25: Edge of Desire

Novel Title: Edge of Desire

Author: Rhyannon Byrd

ISBN: 978-0-373-77423-4

Pages: 345

Price: US - $7.99 CAN- $8.99

First Sentence:

He needed a woman.

Summary:

An Overdue Awakening
No one ever suspected that Sheriff Riley Buchanan, a local hero, was driven by a dark fear that his ancestral blood would one day transform him into a monster. Now, hunted by his family's brutal enemies, Riley, in search of ancient weapons, comes face-to-face with a woman he had given up years before...
Hope Summers still makes him ache with hunger - for her body and her blood, and Riley wants nothing more than to possess her in every way possible. Still, he knows he must keep his distance. Though fate has other plans....

My Thoughts:

I think the best part of the WHOLE ENTIRE BOOK, was when Hope threw the pies at Riley. Pretty much the funniest thing ever ever ever ever. I have to say, that i definitely was not expecting that.
I was kinda pissed at Hope when she found out what Riley was. Here she is, trying to get into his pants and wants him to tell her what he is, and when he does she freaks out. Smooth, Hope, very smooooooth.
the action scene at the end was kinda weak in my opinion, i was expecting a little more BANG for my buck, ya know?
*shrugs* oh well... It was still definitely worth reading....

Book #24: Edge of Danger

Novel Title: Edge of Danger

Author: rhyannon byrd

IsBN: 978-0-373-77399-2

Pages: 368

Price: US- $7.99 CAN- $8.99

First Sentence:

If the woman was trying to blend in, she wasn't very good at it.

Summary: The Ultimate Surrender
Saige Buchanan travels the world studying her dark past, guided by a strange gift that enabled physical objects to tell her their secrets. Yet nothing can protect her from her family's sadistic enemies. Until - in her hour of greatest need - she encounters a mysterious, impossibly sexy shape-shifter.
Sent to find the woman whose darkness has yet to awaken, Michael Quinn battles his primal hunger for Saige. He alone can help her lay claim to her full powers. Yet in doing so, he will destroy her innocence, and mark her as his forever...

My Thoughts:

Oh boy. Quinn is delicious! and who wooda thunk that Saige was a virgin. NOT ME!
I really liked how Saige became the environment. Here she is a little blonde thing in a room full of Brazilians and yet she is one of them. She is really really passionate about her work and about finding the maps that will lead her to the next marker. Saige is also very astute, she believed her mother about the merricks and she always knew that someone was watching her and protecting her just in case she awakened early.
Quinn's a butthead. Once he realizes that Saige is a virgin then he barely even touches her. He claims that his appetites are darker than normal and arn't fit to be put upon a virgin. Saige has a fit saying that it doesnt matter blah blah blah. So throughout the novel Quinn keeps tricking Saige thinking that he's going to have sex with her but then backs away at the last minute. What. A. Douche.
Finally, Quinn realizes the error of his ways.. and the rest, as they say, is history.
A FANTASTIC book.... highly highly recommended. :-D

Book #23: Edge of Hunger

Novel Title: Edge of Hunger

Author: Rhyannon Byrd

ISBN: 978-0-373-77367-1

Pages: 335

Price: US/CAN - $6.99

First Sentence:

The woman was trouble.

Summary:

The Hunger is awakening...
Ian Buchanan has always felt the unknown - the deep, impenetrable darkness that lives within him. Yet he is determined to lead a "normal" life, ignoring the unsettling dreams in which he succumbs to his wildest desires.... Until psychic Molly Stratton tracks him down, claiming to share his sensual nightmares.
The petite Molly even has the bite marks to prove it. And she's also received a message from Ian's deceased mother : an enemy is near. And it's time for the creature inside Ian to finally awaken. A creature with an insatiable hunger that must be controlled before it overtakes them both...

My Thoughts:

Whew! Byrd definitely creates a spicy novel.
Basically Ian freaks out when he sees Molly with the bite marks from his very erotic dream. FREAKS OUT! He just cant believe it. Its actually entertaining to read because he knows she's right but he convinces himself that she's crazy.
And those dreams... Boy, those dreams are intense. But a good intense.
The only thing that pissed me off was that Ian kept being stubborn through the whole friggin book! I mean, in order for his beastie to come out and play with the mean other beastie he has to have blood and sex and he just refuses what molly is offering. The people that are taking care of him and molly are so fed up with it that they have a girl offer herself to ian just so he can get his ass in gear. its ridiculous.
Ian ian ian... poor guy. Whatever.
A great book though... very very awesome :-D

Book #22: Tempted

Novel Title: Tempted

Authors: PC and Kristin Cast

ISBN: 978-0-312-56748-4

Pages: 319

Price: US- $17.99 CAN-$19.99

Summary:

Dark secrets and unspoken suspicions come between Zoey and Stevie Rae, putting their friendship - and the House of Night - at risk.
After Zoey Redbird and her gang have banished Kalona and Neferet from Tulsa, you'd think they'd catch a break. But with Zoey and her sexy warrior Stark both recovering from a brush with death, and the fledglings struggling to deal with the fallout from Neferet's reign of terror, a break is just not in the forecast. Zoey is haunted by her confusing yet elemental connection with A-ya, the ancient Cherokee maiden who was the only human able to tempt Kalona's body and soul. How will A-ya's pull on her affect Zoey's ability to resist the dangerouly seductive immortal?
Meanwhile, Stevie Rae, with her super red-vamp powers, always thought she could handle the stuff she's been keeping from her BFF. But the mysterious, threatening force lurking in the tunnels under the Tulsa Depot is spreading. Stevie Rae won't confide where she's been and what she's doing, and Zoey is beginning to wonder just how much she can trust the person she always thought would have her back.
Will their choices destroy them and will darkness consume the House of Night?

My Thoughts:

OMG!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!! O....M....G...
the summary of this book does not do it justice! that wasnt a summary that was a feather on a bird. So much stuff happened in this book, you guys. Not even funny.
Stevie Rae is being really retarded in this book. She and Zoey are besties but she can't confide to her about the other red fledglings that are more dangerous and a new secret. a new deadly sexy secret.
This book was interesting because it provided two points of view. Zoey's point of view and Stevie Rae's. So you get the tension but you also get an insight into what Stevie Rae is going through when she hides a lot of this stuff from Zoey. Its intense.
Stevie Rae's dark fledglings are also being bitches because they want to destroy Stevie Rae, the only vampire that's stuck around to help them out. So they use Stevie Rae's new secret to help try and destroy her. Ha! good luck with that red fledglings...
Stark is also a main character in this book. Now that he is Zoey's warrior, he is always there for her. But not necessarily when she needs him the most. They are connected in a way that Heath and Eric both wish they were connected to her.
Eric is a dumbass.... That's all i have to say. Actually, its not. Zoey and Eric have a little argument that ends with Eric being a dick.
Aphrodite is also being a trooper now that she has her own warrior in Darius and is imprinted with Stevie Rae but all that changed....
Zoey also learns that Neferet and Kalona are claiming that they are Nyx and her consort incarnated. Which is bull. So Zoey and her friends have to go to the council of vampires to stop them from influencing the most bad ass vampires of all.
In the process, one of Zoey's closest friends bites the dust at the hand of Kalona. Needless to say, she kind of floats in heaven and her friend who died tells her that she shouldnt be there and to go back. The End. Can you believe it!? ummm... sorry Casts, this is not cool. You cant just leave the book with a cliffhanger... Totally not fair.

So now we have to wait..

Book #21: Hunted

Novel Title: Hunted

Author: PC and Kristin Cast

ISBN: 978-0-312-37982-7

Pages: 323

Price: US- $17.95 CAN- $19.95

Summary:

At the start of this heart-pounding new installment in the bestselling House of Night series, Zoey's friends have her back again and Stevie Rae and the red fldglings aren't Neferet's secrets any longer. But an unexpected danger has emerged. Neferet guards her powerful new consort, Kalona, and no one at the House of Night seems to understand the threat he poses. Kalona is gorgeous, and he has the House of Night under his spell. A past life holds the key to breaking his rapidly spreading influence, but what if this past life unearths secrets Zoey doesn't want to see and truths she can't face?
On the run and holed up in Tulsa's Prohibition-era tunnels, Zoey and her gang must discover a way to deal with something that might bring them all down. Meanwhile, Zoey has a few other little problems. The red fledglings have cleaned up well - they've even managed to make the dark, creepy tunnels feel more like home - but are they really as friendly as they seem? ON the boyfriend front, Zoey has a chance to make things right with super-hot ex, Eric, but she cant stop thinking about Stark, the archer who died in her arms after one unforgettable night, and she is driven to try to save him from Neferet's sinister influence at all costs. Will anyone believe the power evil has to hide among us?
My Thoughts:

Okay so basically a lot of stuff goes down in this book. Some of the red fledglings find out that they have nifty powers too. One red fledgling finds out that she writes prophecies about what is to come when it comes to Zoey and Kalona and how to defeat him.
Aphrodite also imprints with someone and its not her warrior. That causes some tension between her and one of Zoey's friends because they can't seem to handle it. I mean, after theyve gone through, they can't all get along?
Zoey gets majorly hurt in the novel so she and some of her friends have to return to the school to face Neferet, Kalona, and some zombie old classmates. Stark also makes an appearance as an asshole. How lovely. But Zoey being Zoey has to help Stark "find the light." So eventually all is well. Except between Stark and Eric. *shrugs* oh well. They'll get over it.

Book #17: Marked

Novel Title: Marked

Author:
PC Cast & Kristin Cast

ISBN:
978-0-312-36026-9

Pages:
306

Price:
US $8.95 CAN $9.95

Summary:

Enter the dark, magical world of the House of Night, a world very much like our own, except here vampyres have always existed. Sixteen-year-old Zoey Redbird has just been Marked as a fledgling vampyre and joins the House of Night, a school where she will train to become an adult vampyre. That is, if she makes it through the Change - and not all of those who are Marked do. It sucks to begin a new life, especially away from her friends, and on top of that, Zoey is no average fledgling. She has been chosen as special by the vampyre Goddess Nyx. Zoey discovers she has amazing powers, but along with her powers come bloodlust and an unfortunate ability to Imprint her human ex-boyfriend. To add to her stress, she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers: When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite group, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny - with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

My Thoughts:

Oh wow. This is the second time I've read this book and i still love it!!!
I love Gramma Redbird! She is the perfect Gramma. Zoey is so lucky to have her.
Basically Zoey's life sucked majorly in the beginning of the book. She got marked and then her life with Heath, her boyfriend, and her parents went to the trash. Her mom really pissed me off because instead of supporting her daughter, she stuck to the side of her husband. Bad bad choice, mom.
Aphrodite really seemed like a major bitch. She is the worst character ever... but i think that's why i like her. There is nothing really like her. I've read books where girls are bitches but none as bitchy as this one. She just wants to control the world and fakes her visions and everything... its horrible!

Zoey's friends are to die for. Stevie Rae is soooo cute! I'm not really into country bumpkins but this girl is soo cute. Damien is perfect for the novel because every young adult novel needs at least one gay guy. The Twins are annoying to me... It's just like "shut up, guys! you dont need to finish each others sentences"

At first, this book seemed kind of forced. It was like all of a sudden Zoey is the special one with her tattoos, and her powers, and her ability to take over as the next Dark Daughters leader. It just seemed like good things were always happening to her.
Plus, the chemistry between her and erik is electric... sure, she caught aphrodite and him doing some nasty things in a hallway.. but dayum...

Book #16: Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side

Novel Title: Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side

Author: Beth Fantaskey

ISBN: 978-0-547-25940-6

Pages: 351

Price: US- $8.99

Summary:

Marrying a vampire definatly doesn't fit in to Jessica Packwood's senior-year "get a life" plan. But then a bizarre (and incredibly hot) new exchange student named Lucius Vladescu shows up, claiming that Jessica is a Romanian vampire princess by birth and he's her long-lost fiance. Armed with newfound confidence and a copy of Growing Up Undead: A Teen Vampire's Guide to Dating, Health and Emotions, Jessica makes a dramatic transition from average American teenager to glam European vampire princess. But Jessica has never been kissed - how can she possibly commit herself to a long-term relationship? Or an eternal relationship, for that matter?

My Thoughts:

Oh my God. This book was fantastic. In the beginning, it seemed like the kind of story some amateur would write on Quizilla.com but as the story unfolded, it wasn't anything like that. One thing that I didnt like is that Lucius and Jess are such teenagers!! I know theyre teenagers but, what the hell. Jess kept pushing Lucius away and wanting to go out with Jake and to me, Lucius didn't really stop her. Then Jess turns around and wants Lucius but then finds out that he doesn't want her and has a new girlfriend who he seems to love doing intimate things with. Which pissed both Jess and me off.
One very intriquing aspect of the novel was the ending. The last line, in fact.
" The stake that had fallen to the carpet was gone. Lucius never told me what became of it. Whether he's tossed the reminder of his most violent deed and our darkest moment into the fire, which had been fed during the night, or hid the stake away somewhere in the castle, in case he should ever choose to need it again. And I never asked."

That was a very powerful last paragraph. Because with all they've been through, you would think that Lucius and Jess would fall madly in love and stay together forever, but the last paragraph made me think that all was not well in Paradise. And that something darker may happen further into their relationship. It was an interesting twist that made you think. I definatly would not want to be in a relationship (like theirs) where you love someone but arn't sure whether or not they'd hurt you. Just thinking about it is Hell on my nerves.

Book #15: The One I Want

Novel Title: The One I Want

Author:
Nancy Warren

ISBN:
978-0-7582-1045-6

Pages:
277

Price:
US- $14.00 CAN- $16.95

Summary:

Falling in love is much harder than breaking up...
With three broken engagements under her oh so fashionable belt, it's high time London party girl Chloe Flynt gets a job. Unfortunatly, Chloe isn't exactly qualified for anything, except dumping a Mr. Wrong or two (or three!) with a little dignity. Realizing she needs a new beginning, she lands in Austin, Texas, and opens a company helping other people do the dirty work of breaking up...
Too bad Chloe's tall, tough-talking, and take-charge landlord, Matthew Tanner, isn't interested in her expertise. Because anyone can see that his girlfriend is clearly all wrong for him. Not that Chloe cares. She and Matthew have nothing in common - other than that mind-blowing attraction, that is. But when his girlfriend requests Chloe's services, all hell breaks loose. If there's one thing Chloe knows for sure, it's that just because she's good at breaking up bad relationships doesn't mean she has a talent for putting together good ones. Maybe it's finally time she gives it a try...

My Thoughts:

This book was not what I expected at all. And it's a good unexpected, by the way. I thought this book was just going to be about Chloe, Matt, and his girlfriend. But there are way more characters whose lives are influenced and connected. There's Stephanie who is attracted to Matt's friend, Rafe. And Stephanie is a patient to a love therapist, Deborah. And Deborah's boyfriend wants to break up with her so Chloe sends Rafe in and finds Stephanie. Its just a whole big tangle of people and connections that I didn't think this book was about. The added plot lines really added dimension to this novel, I believe. It made you want everyone in the book to have a happy ending. And most do, thank God.
Warren definatly gave Chloe some interesting ways to break up with people. I'll have to consult this book when I need a quick way to get rid of a boyfriend. :-D
All in all, this book was surprisingly really well written. I definatly recommend it.

Book #14: You're So Vein

Novel Title: You're So Vein

Author:
Christine Warren

ISBN:
978-0-312-94792-7

Pages:
327

Price:
US- $6.99 CAN- $8.99

Summary:

Ava Markham is beautiful, savvy, chic, and more at home with Kate Spade than with the idea of fangs and fur. She can't quite get used to the fact that some of her closest friends have crossed over to the Other side. Then one night she is atacked by a rogue vampire, and her deepest fears are realized when her body begins a dangerous transformation from human to immortal - a change she cannot survive without the help of an alluring stranger who comes to her rescue...
Vladimir "Dima" Rurikovich, an elite member of the European Council of Vampires, is on the prowl for a murderous vampire fugitive on the night he saves Ava from the clutches of death. It takes just one look for Dima to know he cannot ive another eight centuries without the stunning and seductive Ava - until he discovers a secret about her bloodline that could change everything...

My Thoughts

Okay, i really loved this novel for its speediness. In this novel, time just flies!! The chemistry between Ava and Dima is amazing but i was really frustrated with Ava because she just seemed like a little brat who doesnt know what she wants. She always pushes Dima away because she can't handle who she is or who she has become. Its annoying.
The other thing i found annoying was that there was only 2 sex scenes in this whole book... and they werent even that good!! Come on Ms. Warren!
So.. all in all i loved how fast the book went but i didnt like Ava's attitude or lack of lovin'

Book #13: Howl at the Moon

Novel Title: Howl at the Moon

Author:
Christine Warren

ISBN:
978-0-312-94790-3

Pages:
331

Price:
US- $7.99 CAN- $9.99

Summary:

A white lie covered in darkness is about to come full circle...
Noah Baker never wanted to betray the Others. But if his military commanders want him to covertly investigate a Lupine scientist - whose extraordinary research on sensory perception in werewolves could be used to develop werewolf-sharp senses in human soldiers - Noah must oblige. Even if it means deceiving the woman he desires the most.
Samantha Carstairs is the personal assistant to the Alpha of the Silverback Clan, and as best friend to the Lupine community's most brilliant scientist, she is privy to its most dangerous secret. Noah knows that Sam will never leak the scientific research... so he must find another way to get it, while keeping Sam close. But someone else is after Sam's secret. Who is the other spy infiltrating the Others? If their genetic secrets get into the wrong hands, all hell could break loose. Now Noah's true loyalty is put to the test as he fights to protect the Others - and his beloved Sam- and find the imposter... before it's too late.

My Thoughts:

Oh Dang! The chemistry between Sam and Noah is electric! Clothes are ripping and they're doing it on the floor a couple of times and in the shower too... Take a breath, guys. lol!
The tough part about this book is when Sam finds out that Noah has been a spy for her pack. The anguish reminds me of Lora Leigh's Mercury's War. To me, though, it seemed like Sam forgave Noah too easily. I know he was sorry and all that, but she could have dragged out the making up for a couple of days. I think the sex would have been more.. more.. something.
One thing I didnt really understand about this book was that Annie's lab assistant seemed to be a spy but there was no follow up to that story. He was creepy and perfect material for it but after a couple of pages he was forgotten. It made no sense that the government was behind everything if you have a perfect suspect right in front of you to use!!! *shrugs* oh well...
In the beginning, it was a little hard to get through. I was getting frustrated 'cause I just wanted to pick up a new book. But then things started to flow which made the book more enjoyable.

This book is one of my favorite books of all time. No joke. Ms. Elkeles creates a story so close to home, its incredible. She presents a very tough question. If someone ruined your life, would you be able to forgive?
Leaving Paradise is about a book where two people whose lives have been ruined meet up and are forced to work together. Through that work relationship, a blooming romance occures. But this book is filled with twists and turns. Betrayals, Secrets, Barbie doll whores named Kendra. It really is a fascinating tale.

I highly recommend this book.

Book #11: Nauti Boy

Novel Title: Nauti Boy

Author:
Lora Leigh

ISBN:
978-0-425-23112-8

Price:
US- $7.99 CAN- $9.99

Pages:
279

Summary:

Too weak to resist young Kelly Salyer's attempts at seduction, Rowdy Mackay left home eight years ago. Duty as a U.S. Marine put a safe distance between him and the temptation of the nubile Kentucky vixen. Now Rowdy's back home and ready to engage in the kind of erotic games that have earned him and his two cousins a Nauti-boy reputation.
Once it was Kelly's dream, too, to feel the heat of the boy she desired. But an attack from a stalker still on the prowl has left Kelly terrified of a man's touch. Now as fear and desire converge, Rowdy fights to save her from the deadly threats of a stranger, to rid her of her demons and to satisfy a hunger more powerful than either can imagine.

My Thoughts:

I LOVE LORA LEIGH!!!!!!! She packs such an interesting story with tons and tons of sex its incredible!! *hyperventilating*
This story is amazing. Throughout the story, your forced to puzzle over who the person who attacked Kelly could be. Its frustrating but worth the wait...
Plus, I swear Rowdy and Kelly go at it like a million bajillion times in this novel. Its like everyother page has them either kissing, fucking, wanting to kiss or wanting to fuck. Leigh also incorperates Rowdy's cousins into the lovin'. Rowdy and his cousins have been known for doing a girl all at the same time. So, that adds for definate steaminess....
All in all, a GREAT book!

Book #10: The Demon You Know

Novel Title: The Demon You Know

Author:
Christine Warren

ISBN:
978-0-312-34777-2

Pages:
344

Price:
US-$6.99 CAN-$8.99

Summary:

A silent beauty...
As a research grunt at a local television station, Abby Baker tends to blend into the background, which is where she's most comfortable. But when she ends up being the last resort to cover a hot story, Abby discovers a whole new side to her personality when she is possessed by a fiend - a type of rogue demon. Suddenly everyone wants a piece of her. And now the demon Rule - a hunter of his own kind who have gone astray - is Abby's only hope...
A sudden passion...
Meanwhile, the Others - vampires, werewolves, and witches, oh my! - have come out of the supernatural closet and the humans are all aflutter. Mischief is afoot in the demon realm, and Rule knows that Abby is key to figuring it all out before the fiends tip the fragile balance between the newly discovered Others and the humans into an epic battle. It's now up to two lost souls to make love not war...

My Thoughts:

Warren doesn't fail to disappoint me yet again! Abby is so likeable despite the situation she has been put under. And Rule is definatly the male we'd love to have. And the chemistry between them is explosive! Not literally, cuz that would suck... but you know what i mean. :-)
I loved how Warren mentioned previous characters in her other books. The only thing i'm not getting about this whole serious of books she has created is the order. According to her books, the first book in the series was Wolf at the Door but sequence wise the first book is One Bite with a Stranger. So I'm all sorts of confused... I'll figure it out eventually....
Anyways, this book was alright. Not one of Warren's best but not everything can be perfect..
All in all, i thoroughly enjoyed the book nonetheless

Book #9: Wolf At The Door

Novel Title: Wolf at the Door

Author:
Christine Warren

ISBN:
978-0-312-93962-5

Pages:
336

Price:
US-$6.99 CAN-$8.99

Summary:

When danger meets desire...
Sullivan Quinn didn't travel 3,000 miles from his native Ireland and his wolf pack just to chase rabidly after the most delectable quarry he's ever seen. Quinn is in America on a mission - to warn his Other brethren of a shadowy group willing to use murder and mayhem to bring them down. But one whiff of this Foxwoman's delicious honey suckle fragrance and he knows that she is more that a colleague or a conquest...she is his mate.
Anthropologist Cassidy Poe is a world-renowned authority on social interaction, but the overpowering desire she feels around Quinn defies every ounce of her expertise. Working by his side to uncover the Others' enemies poses risks she never expected - to her own safety, to those she loves, and to her heart, as every encounter with Quinn proves more blissfully erotic that the last...
Now, with no one to trust but each other, Quinn and Cassidy face a foe that's edging closer every day, threatening to destroy the life they've always known, and the passion they've just discovered.

My Thoughts:

Great book!! Warren creates very very very likeable and dislikeable characters. Cassidy and Quinn ofcourse are my faves. The villians are bitches though... spineless bitches. I mean come on, you think some badass were-whatevers would have some spine to do some REAL damage... but NOPE!! So that kinda sucked in my opinion.
The love scenes were terrific. Christine Warren does not disappoint when it comes to her novels. She makes them action packed and full of lovin'.
One aspect i didnt enjoy about the book was that it was somewhat filled with politics and talking about whodunnit and what they were going to do because OH NO ANOTHER WOMAN IS GONE! laaaaaaame... She needed to put more time with cassidy and quinn and less time with quinn and his shapeshifter buddies....
All in all a GREAT book, nonetheless. :-)

Book #8: Storm of Shadows

Novel Title: Storm of Shadows

Author:
Christina Dodd

ISBN:
978-0-451-22813-0

Pages:
374

Price:
US-$7.99 CAN-$9.99

Summary:

Brilliant but proper and predictable, Rosamund Hall has lived her life buried in universities and libraries, discounting the legend of the Chosen as a myth. Until Aaron Eagle shows up at her door. Aaron both unsettles and enthralls her. But she can't resist his offers of clandestine visits to private museums, the hunt for a mysterious prophecy, or a makeover that unleashes her untamed soul. With the promise of a love that will defy fate itself, Rosamund is forced to confront the truth about the Chosen... and the dangerous man who sweeps her into a world of dark secrets.

My Thoughts:

This book started off a little slow for me and was quite boring in the beginning. I started to get interested maybe 2/3 of the way in the book. Then it got really really good!! Dodd made up this world where there are humans, the Chosen, and the Others. The humans are just humans but the Chosen and the Others are two species destined to hate eachother and war against eachother. The Chosen is the good side and the Others are the opposite...
One aspect that made the book enjoyable was the strange relationship between Rosamund and Aaron. Rosamund is plain and isnt really interested in men. She's only interested in museums and reading and adventure, which unsettles Aaron. Aaron thinks Rosamund is plain in the beginning but then tries to win her affection time and time again. Ofcourse Rosamund being Rosamund doesnt understand anything about guys so she doesnt get what Aaron is trying to do.
This book had an interesting plot and steamy love scenes but all in all it wasnt one of my favorites...
