Book #7: One Bite with a Stranger

Novel Title: One Bite with a Stranger

Author:
Christine Warren

ISBN:
978-0-312-94793-4 or 0-312-94793-3

Pages:
332

Price:
US- $6.99 CAN- $8.99

Summary:

When Regina's friends insist on setting her up on a "Fantasy Fix" to help her get over her cheating exx, she dreams up some kinky out-of-this-world encounters that they could never possibly bring to life. But the next thing Regina knows, her friends have got her laced into a shiny black corset, tight leather pants, and a sexy pair of stilettos. It's time for some downtown vampire-fantasy fun...
The Vampire Ball in Manhattan's East Village isn't really Dmitri Vidame's idea of a good time, but as a member of the Council that governs The Others, he has to keep an eye on all the young vamps who prey on the pretenders. After he feasts his dark eyes on fiery Regina at the bar, he knows that he must have her. But for the first time Dmitri meets a woman who is more than a match for his indomitable will. And he may be the fantasy Regina hoped for...until she- and her feisty friends- discover her sexy new lover's bloodsucking secret...

My Thoughts:

This book is STEAMY!! There is so much sex it should be illegal! This book was very well written (especially the spicy parts). The only part that i didnt like about this novel was the relationship between some vampires and a master vampire. The ending to that resolution was not exactly clear to me. Maybe, i was just too enraptured by those friggin' BABY MAKING SCENES!!!
The thing that started the humpin' and bumpin' were a bunch of friends who get together and set each other up with a fantasy fix. Each girl writes down five fantasies and the other women have to find a man to set her up with to fulfill that girls fantasy... I've got some great ideas from them! *wink*
Other than that, the main character, Regina, is a stubborn woman who is totally not for a fantasy fix. I mean, she caught her fiance with his secretary... ew. But Misha (aka Dmitri) is dominating and wants to be with Regina. And boy, those two are like a bomb in the sack....
If you want some lovin', take some notes!!

So... go to your local bookstore or order online just dont make this (steamy sex filled) book full of forgotten pages.

Book #6: Queen of the Darkness

Novel Title: Queen of the Darkness

Author:
Anne Bishop

ISBN:
978-0-451-45673-1

Pages:
430

Price:
US- $7.99 CAN-$ 8.99

Summary:

The Dark Court has been formed. Jaenelle Angelling now reigns as Queen, protector of the Shadow Realm. No longer will the corrupt Blood slaughter her people and defile her lands. But where one chapter ends, a final, unseen battle remains to be written.
And even Witch cannot stand alone. Somewhere, long lost in madness, is Daemon, her promised Consort. His unyeilding love for Jaenelle will complete her court and secure her power. Yet, even together, their strength may not be enough to stave off their enemies.
In the end, only a terrible sacrifice can save those Jaenelle loves...

My Thoughts:

Get your Kleenex 'cause this one will make you cry! This whole novel is a breakdown just waiting to happen. There is so much happiness infused with sadness that its almost unbearable. Daemon comes back to Jaenelle but throughout the book both of them are fighting the attraction between them! Talk about frustrating... Saetan also has a new love and what!? Luciver has a family? When did this happen?? This book takes place five years after the second one... so much has changed in less than a decade.
Jaenelle is once again having to make decisions that hurt her. But she makes good ones when it comes to protecting her kindred and family. Towards the end of the novel, Daemon does some pretty graphic stuff to his brother and father. So if your not into almost balling your eyes out because of the cruelty then dont pick up the book.
This novel, though you cant help but cry, is my favorite out of the three. Jaenelle finally realizes who she needs to be for her people and makes horrifying decisions for them.
Overall, a great read.

Book #5: Heir to the Shadows

Novel Title: Heir to the Shadows

Author: Anne Bishop

ISBN:978-0-451-45672-4

Pages:482

Price:US- $7.99 CAN- $8.99

Summary:

Dreams made flesh. The Blood have waited centuries for the coming of Witch, the living embodiment of magic. But Jaenelle Angelline, the young girl singled out by prophecy, is haunted by the cruel battles fought over her- for not all the Blood await her as their savior. Some dismiss her as a myth. Some refuse to believe. And still otheres look forward to using her, making her a pawn in their shadowy devices.
Only time and the love of her guardians have healed Jaenelle's physical wounds. But her mind is still fragile, barely able to protect her from the terrible memories of her childhood. Nothing, however, can keep her from her destiny- and the day of reckoning looms near. When her memories return... when her magic matures...when she is forced to accept her fate.
On that day, the dark Realms will know what it means to be ruled by Witch.

My Thoughts:

Once again, Bishop outdoes herself. There is so much detail in how she makes her world. I love these characters!! Jaenelle is so amazing. She doesnt want to make her court but has to in order to maintain order in the realms and throughout the Blood. She makes so many allies and pisses off so many people its astounding. Through it all, Jaenelle is only seventeen and seems to always take on grown up responsibilities that no one can handle except for hereself. As a true queen, she passes judgements and fights to get her way. She even stops the sun from rising for three days so she wouldnt have to live with another guardian. She is stubborn but doesnt realize her true power. In the previous novel, she was a Witch with all these jewels and gems but had no knowledge of basic craft which made her highly dangerous.
Her lover (whose not her lover yet), Daemon, is stuck in the Twisted Kingdom after thinking that he murdered the woman he loved. Jaenelle, knowing that she needs her man, tries to help him come out of the abyss but as always, the choice is left to him.
This book is amazing!! I recommend reading the Daughter of the Blood before this one so you can have basic knowledge of the realms, the Blood, and Jaenelle, Saetan, Daemon and Lucivar.

Book #4: Daughter of the Blood

Novel Title: Daughter of the Blood

Author: Anne Bishop

ISBN: 0-451-45671-8

Pages: 412

Price: US- $5.99 Can- $7.99

Summary:

The Once and Future Queen. Seven hundred years ago, a Black Widow witch sees an ancient prophecy come to life in her dazzling web of dreams and visions.
Now the Dark Kingdom readies itself for the arrival of its Queen, a Witch who will wield more power than even the High Lord of Hell himself. But she is still young, still open to influence - and corruption.
Whoever controls the Queen controls the Darkness. Three men - and sworn enemies- know that. And they know the power that hides behind the blue eyes of an innnocent young girl. And so begins a ruthless game of politics and intrigue, magic and betrayel, where the weapons are hate and love... and the price could be terrible beyond imagining.

My Thoughts:

Oh geez. This book was incredible. Ms. Bishop creates a story filled with many twists and turns and drama and the mechanics of this new world and way of life. It truly is incredible. For a woman who just wrote this novel as her first book, she is on the way to stardom. Bishop creates characters that are beautiful, terrifying, and very complex. You could almost know someone in the book and then have them change in an instant. There are so many elements to this book! I dont think i could list them all without spoiling the whole novel for you guys.
I picked up this book looking for a good romance novel to read (since that is mostly what i read). There is romance but the main character is only 12 years old. So no romance going on there! lol. Some of the images Bishop pictures, are very disturbing and graphic. So if you arnt into that then dont pick up this book. There are some dark dark elements to this novel, and some things will either relate to you if you have suffered child abuse or disturb you if you dont like... some things.

More coming soon by Bishop!,

Summary:

"Dear John," the letter read. And with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives changed forever.

Then, during a furlough, he meets Savannah, the girl of his dreams. The attraction is mutual and quickly grows into the kind of loe that leaves Savannah vowing to wait for John while he finishes his tour of duty. But neither can forsee that 9/11 is about to change the world. Like so many proud men and women, John must choose between love and his country. Now, when he finally returns to North Carolina, John will discover how love can transform us in ways we never could have imagined.

My Thoughts:

OH MY GOD!!! I have never read anything by Sparks but this book definatly makes me want to read more. Hmm.. I predict more sparks books in this blog. I've seen many Sparks movies (The Notebook, Nights in Rodanthe, and soon this one) but i've never had an interest to read a novel by him. I LOVE THIS BOOK!! This book is humorous and very very emotional. It also provides amazing details into the life of a soldier and how torn one can be between two things. This book is also very educational when it comes to surfing, coins, a disease, and just plain life. I shed several tears reading this book because its so painful and heartbreaking to read. The characters are amazing. John is the narrarator and he tells a story about his life before and after meeting the woman of his dreams. Very intense novel.
READ READ READ!!!
p.s. this book is a movie now... coming soon to theatres :-)

Book #2: She's No Angel

Novel Title: She's No Angel

Author: Leslie Kelly

ISBN-13:
978-0-373-77215-5

Pages: 378

Price: US: $6.99 Can: $8.50

Summary:

Mike Taylor was one sorry New York cop. If only he'd taken another route to Trouble, Pennsylvania. Then he'd never have rescued a tire-iron-toting, drop-dead-gorgeous woman whose crazy aunts had stolen her shoes and keys and left her more than a little pissed off. There was no way he was ready to get involved with someone like Jennifer, let alone the decades-old murder case swirling around her nutty family!
But writer Jennifer Feeney was one provocative package. And her latest bestseller had stirred up a whole lot of trouble. Which meant that, between rescuing her again and again, Mike had fallen for her, big-time. Just the way he'd promised himself he wouldn't. NOw it looks as if her family's past is going to catch up with both of them, and it's time for Mike to choose- solve the case... or get the girl.

My Thoughts:

This is the first time i've read a novel by Leslie Kelly. She definatly adds some spunk into her female heroines. Jennifer always seems to have horrible things happen to her. I mean, after her two books (Why Arsenic is Better Than Divorce)(I want you, I love you, Get out) she gets nasty hate mail and she even has to put up with her insane aunts who've tried to kill her a time or too. Ofcourse, Mike, being the chauvinistic male that we all love (and sometimes hate), cant resist her and wants to protect her from everything. Whateva. I've heard this story before. Jennifer definatly adds much humor throughout the novel along with her crazy aunts. Between the main plot there is a sub plot involving Mike's Grandpa's butler and a local older woman. ooo la la. Sparks are a flyin'.
The only thing i really didnt enjoy about this story was the suspense with Jennifer's freaky stalker person and Mike's old rivalry. Throughout the story, Jennifer gets hate mail and gets weird phone calls where people breathe into the phone and call her very nasty things. But there is no follow up on what happens to those callers. Maybe i missed the part... It could have been the villian in the story, but i cant give you any spoilers. No fun.
Also throughout the story, Mike always thinks this old rival person is out to get him. No follow up there either. It appears that everything is in his imagination but i mean, come on! no other plots except for the weird old women and jennifer and mike!? Boooring.
all in all, i enjoyed the book and i hope you guys will too. :-)

Book #1 Lucky Streak

Novel Title
: Lucky Streak

Author: Carly Phillips

Picture: Lucky Streak Pictures, Images and Photos

ISBN-13:978-0-373-77375-6

Pages: 366

Price: US- $7.99 Can- $8.99

Summary:

Long ago, a witch proclaimed an eternal curse that every Corwin male who married for love would be destined to lose his woman and his fortune...
When Mike Corwin awakens after some wild partying in Vegas $100,000 richer and married to Amber, the gorgeous woman he met the night before, he thinks he's hit the jackpot. The bad news is that Amber's a con who takes his money and runs. Seems the family curse has hit him. Hard.
But to Amber, Mike isn't business as usual. If only she didn't need the money to ensure her father's safety, she might actually have fallen for the intense lawman. Instead, she's forced to betray him.
Now Mike's hell-bent on divorce and Amber's on the run...but when a twist of fate reunites them, can they turn their run of bad fortune into a lucky streak?

My Thoughts:

Well, first of all, I'm a huge fan of Carly Phillips. I think she writes amazing love stories and this particular love story doesn't fail. In this world Phillips creates, she makes you love the readers and make you want everything to work for them. Amber is totally relatable because despite liking her husband of less than 24 hours, she leaves him in order to protect her father who doesnt remember her. That takes guts to do.
Mike, feeling totally gipped, is like 'wtf' and wants to file for a divorce but amber always finds a way (seduction being her personal favorite) to change his mind. Mike is a cop and is used to everything being black and white but Amber is definatly all colors and full of secrets. Seeing this little adventure unfold is an adventure in and of itself.
I think most of you will enjoy reading her.

A Little About Amy

Hello Everyone!
I just wanted to make this post to inform everyone about who is behind the computer. My name is Amy and I am the biggest book lover I know. I have always grown up around books. When I was a little girl, I would run into my closet (I still do, actually) and close the door and read until i was satisfied. My parents never knew about my little secret hide-away.
I am interested in all kinds of books, but the genres i am most partial to are romances, paranormals, young-adult, and... well, I think that's it. I don't want this to just be a blog where i tell you what i read. I want this to be a sort of relationship. I would love to hear about what everyone else enjoys. There needs to be some interaction, you know? Great.
Back to what i was saying... OH! I cant disclose my age because my parents would kill me but i will say that i do attend high school in southern California. I may sound childish but I'm not. I'm actually very mature for my age... sometimes. :-)
After high school, I'm planning on joining the United States Navy for four years and attend a four year university at the same time. I would love to major in English since i'm an English buff. After college, I want to do some international journalism and then maybe open my own bookstore. Of course, I have to have a husband and kids, or else my life would kinda suck.
Anyways, I hope this helped you know who the girl behind this madness is. :-)
Enjoy!
~ Amy
