Summary:

Now unleashed, she's a red-haired weapon of unimaginable destructive powers, a walking time bomb bent on revenge in the sultry bayous of New Orleans and hunted by a shadowy assassin. It's Gator's job to reel Flame in. But can two people haunted by violent betrayals trust the passion that soon ignites them? Or is one of them just playing another seductive and deadly night game?

My Thoughts:

I wasn't really expecting much for this book. I was kind of excited to get it because it was written by Christine Feehan who is absolutely amazing. Although I love her, I wasn't in love with this book. It could have been that I thought that I was missing an entire plot line. Is this book in a series? No idea.
I think the characters in this novel were a little over dramatic. Flame definatly was a little dramatic in trying to get revenge for getting her powers. Hello? At least your not dead... At least be a little grateful.
And I thought Gator would be more of a tortured soul. Instead he was just a regular guy who had some "shadows". Whatever that means.
The one character that I did love was Nonny. She was the cutest little grandmother and so innocent. :-D
Other than that though, the romance scenes were nothing special. The action scenes were confusing and the overall plot wasn't the best. *shrugs* oh well.
This book wasn't my favorite but it very well could be yours.

Book #30: Twice as Hot

Novel Title: Twice As Hot

Author: Gena Showalter

ISBN: 978-0-373-77437-1

Price: US $7.99 CAN $9.99

Pages: 424

Summary:

Belle Jamison is finally starting to feel like a normal girl again. Her job as a paranormal investigator is going well, she's learned to control her supernatural abilities (mostly) and she's just gotten engaged to Rome Masters, the ultra-sexy operative who once tried to neutralize her!
But planning a wedding is never easy, especially when the bride keeps accidentally torching her dress, the groom returns from a dangerous mission with selective memory loss and the man responsible now wants Belle for himself. With Rome's ex determined to win him back and a new band of supervillians on the horizon, it will take all Belle's powers - plus a little help from her trust empath sidekick - to save the day, salvage the wedding and prove that true love really does conquer all.

My Thoughts:

This book was a roller coaster of emotions. Like the book before this one, it made me bust up laughing because of Belle's sense of humor. She's just so freakin' funny! But you got to have the good with the bad and there was definitely lots of bad. I must have teared up, like, a million times.
The back of the book is wrong BTW. Rome did not suffer from minor memory loss, he suffered from the greatest memory loss ever (forgetting who Belle was). And it didn't help that Lexis was being a total bitch the whole time.
Luckily, everything turns out to be alright. Tanner finds a lady love and so does Sherridon, Belle's best friend. Lexis is still undetermined.
The wedding was awesome but I would have liked to see more detail. The ending was kind of lame but this book isn't a Pulitzer so you kinda have to deal with it. :-)

Book #29: Playing With Fire

Novel Title: Playing With Fire

Author: Gena Showalter

ISBN: 978-0-373-77129-5

Price: US $6.99 CAN $8.50

Pages: 374

First Sentence:
(On Belle's Resume)
Objective: To find an exciting, exhilarating career with the opportunity for advancement and a low rate of employee dismissals.

Summary:

Earth, Wind & Fire aren't just a band anymore...
Used to be my greatest achievement was holding a job more than three days. Now suddenly I can shoot fireballs, chill your drink or blow-dry your hair at fifty paces with a blink of my eye!
It all started when this crazy scientist dropped something in my Grande Mocha Latte. Of course I got wicked sick. Next morning I'm waking up with this total hottie bending over me. He tells me 1) his name's Rome Masters, 2) he's a government agent and 3) I can control the four elements with a thought.
He seems even less pleased by my (apparently irreversible) transformation than I am...Because now he'll have to kill me.

My Thoughts:

This book is hilarious! I was literally laughing my ass off and that's not good 'cause I'm pretty fond of my ass. The main character, Belle, has this outlook on life that is a typical woman in the 21st century. She has a FABULOUS sense of humor.
Rome, of course, is delicious. And he has a little superpower of his own. Sunny, his little daughter, is tooooooo cute! Lexis, his ex, is alright but i don't really like her that much. *shrugs* oh well.
Gena Showalter was a genius when she came up with Belle and her whole situation. Belle seems to be like a real person you would be like or someone you would know. Just a crazy girl. But she is AWESOME!
My 3rd favorite character is Tanner because he is just so funny. He's this random guy that inadvertently helps Belle escape from Pretty Boy (aka Vincent Jones). He is a typical teenage guy. Horny as hell but so sensitive <-- hint!. And he makes wicked booby sandwiches *wink*
This book was fantastic! I was expecting more hanky panky with Rome and Belle but the whole story builds up their relationship and their love that it was just totally worth it.
